A consumer business idea · The Foundery
Post-sweat care for young India. One hero spray for face, body and scalp, in a bottle you clip to your gym bag.
01 The idea
Pola Cooldown is a hypochlorous acid (HOCl) spray for face, body and scalp. Use it after the gym, on a flight or before a meeting. It soothes skin, helps keep it clean and needs no rinse.
HOCl is a molecule the body makes itself to fight bacteria, so it is gentle on sensitive skin.
Key ring, flight-safe.
Prices are hypotheses to test. Pre-launch: adding to bag reserves a spot, nothing is charged.
02 The consumer
Persona A
Persona B
Sweaty to presentable in 5 minutes, without a shower.
Breakouts, chest and back acne, itch in the folds, odour, fear of ringworm.
Put together, seen as someone who takes care of themselves. In metro India, health is now status.
Sensitive skin is common
In a survey of 0 people, more women than men said they have sensitive skin — and under-45s reported it more often.
03 The gap
Why today's options fall short
Minimalist is a clinical toner; "post-workout" is hidden in the usage notes.
Deodorants, wipes and sanitizers mask odour with alcohol and fragrance, which sensitive skin often reacts to.
Steroid creams come after the damage and are linked to recurring ringworm.
Tower 28 and Touchland prove design sells hygiene, but neither is in India or made for sweat.
04 Why you believe it is real
The pain
Ringworm (tinea) is called "epidemic-like." In two hospital studies, 81–93% of patients had misused steroid creams.
The behaviour
Minimalist tells buyers to spray post-workout. Tower 28 sold SOS through fitness classes — and that one spray is 30% of a $228M brand.
The exit
Touchland sold for $700M+ on about $130M in sales. Design-led hygiene is a real category.
I see it at the gym… Nothing in there says ‘I take care of my skin’.
05 Why now
Gym members — just 0.8% of India. Run clubs and HYROX make fitness social.
Quick commerce's share of online beauty, 2022 to 2025. "I just ran out" now takes 10 minutes.
Indian skincare grew 13% in 2025, led by clinical, sensitive-safe products.
Domestic air passengers in FY25 — the Mover, hours from a proper wash.
06 The business
Price per ml
₹ / ml
We charge for the bottle, the ritual and the brand. The refill keeps loyal users near the clinical price. HOCl is water, salt and electrolysis, so packaging is the main cost.
Size it yourself
5% × 12.3M × 4 bottles/yr × ₹549
The 5% and 4 bottles are assumptions.
Gym front desks, boutique studios, spray stations at run-club and HYROX finish lines.
Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart. Nykaa and Tira for discovery.
Collectible bottles, a dermatologist panel testing on Indian skin, and gym / run-club communities.
Range, one step at a time
Precedent
HUL valued Minimalist at ₹2,955 Cr after ₹347 Cr revenue.
Pee Safe reached ₹82 Cr from a single hygiene worry.
07 What you have done so far
Studied Tower 28's growth and India's fitness, skin-health and beauty-channel data.
Mapped who sells HOCl in India and at what price.
No interviews or prototype yet. Chalet taught us to find the real buyer early — that's what the first 30 days do.
What we learned
08 The biggest unknown
People will spray it in the open.
They'll pay about 2.5× the clinical price per ml.
It becomes a monthly habit — about one bottle a month.
It stays stable in Indian heat and within cosmetic claim rules. Solvable with the right formulator and regulatory advice.
09 Your first move
40 interviews across value gyms, chain gyms, studios and run clubs in Delhi NCR and Bengaluru. Photograph 50 bags.
Show 3 designs at ₹399 / ₹549 / ₹699 on Instagram. Riya's travel audience tests the mover segment.
200 white-label HOCl bottles from a contract manufacturer. Seed 2 gyms and 1 run club. Count who sprays in the open.
Ask testers to re-buy at full price. Book a regulatory call. Shortlist a formulator for stability testing.
Keep going if
At least 30% of testers pay ₹549 for a second bottle and people use it in the gym without being asked.
These are targets, not results.
